FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

This is a great first step for those new to the semi permanent world of beauty. Microblading is created by use of a hand tool and a micro (in size) blade to produce hair-like strokes in the utmost layers of your skin. When done properly, the delicate placement should fade out very naturally (12 - 18 months for most) - leaving you with minimal commitment and the versatility to update your look as trends and your personal desires change.

Best Suited for : Normal, dry or combination/slightly oily skin.

Applicable on: Smooth skin and less mature textures.

WHAT ARE NANO BROWS?

This single needle machine technique delivers hair strokes that result in a similar look to microblading. The main difference with this technique (hand tool versus tattoo machine) is the longevity; implantation occurs slightly deeper with the tattoo and may last up to 3 years.

Best Suited for: Most skin types.

Most complimentary for those with smooth to moderate skin texture.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COSMETIC AND BODY TATTOOING?

Cosmetic tattooing is designed to enhance your natural features. Cosmetic tattoo artists utilize pigments to create a subtle, natural looking enhancement that will simply fade out in time. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over time as your natural coloration and facial changes occur.

Body tattoos are applied to a much deeper layer of skin, which is why they are permanent.

HOW LONG DOES HEALING TAKE?

Healing will vary slightly based on the treatment but you can expect approximately 7-14 days for surface healing to be complete. The first few days after your treatment, the tattoo will be at its boldest. As healing begins, pigment will appear darker and then gradually settle in to a softer more natural shade over the first few weeks. You may experience slight tightness or flaking throughout healing process; this is very normal and your artist will provide you with the proper aftercare products to help aid you during this brief transition.

DO YOU OFFER CONSULTS?

Yes, all consults are currently managed via email. All appointments are consultative in nature, allowing you and your artist to fully collaborate on the design of your enhancement. If you have any questions prior to making the commitment to book, please send us an email to ask!

IS RECEIVING A COSMETIC TATTOO UNCOMFORTABLE?

Discomfort is relative and very much specific to the individual. Whether brows, lips or frecks, most of our clients would describe any sensation as minimal to tolerable. Topical anesthetics can be used throughout your treatment to help ease sensation if needed. Thoughtful measures to help prevent any added sensitivity include: diligently following your pre-care to prep the skin (and for our female clients book your appointment to occur outside of your cycle if possible).

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Cosmetic tattooing is a two step process, everyone heals differently and your second session truly is the perfection session. At your initial appointment we focus on designing a foundational enhancement. At your second session we’ll retouch color, refine shape and build up the density. Your cosmetic tattoo has not been completed until you have had your second session. After that, we’ll meet “annually” to simply refresh shape and color.

WOULD ANY CONDITIONS PREVENT ME FROM RECEIVING A COSMETIC TATTOO?

Yes, unfortunately cosmetic tattooing cannot be performed on individuals who are pregnant, diabetic (unless you have a doctor's note), history of keloiding or if you have a heart condition. People with certain allergies (alcohol, heavy metals), skin conditions (rosacea, psoriasis, eczema) or autoimmune / thyroid diseases should be very apprehensive about having a cosmetic tattoo preformed.

For a complete list of all contraindications, please review “Am I A Candidate” and email Katie with any additional questions prior to booking.

CAN I GO IN PUBLIC RIGHT AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?

Yes! It’s totally normal to have some slight redness and/or swelling but it’s something only you will notice and subsides most often in a few hours. The area may feel tight and tender after the procedure and your brows will appear super bold and crisp.
